Banana bread baked oatmeal tastes just like having a slice of the warm, fresh baked treat. These healthy blended baked oats have a cake-like texture that makes a delicious breakfast, snack or dessert. Made with no flour or sugar, just banana, oats and a few simple pantry ingredients, this is a quick and easy banana bread recipe you will make over and over again!

Healthy blended baked oats are just like having cake for breakfast!

Blended baked oats were a viral TikTok trend that changed my breakfast game. I will never stop making them! If you love the idea of eating cake for breakfast and still being healthy then you need to also try these Chocolate Peanut Butter Baked Oats and Pumpkin Blended Baked Oats.

I love the taste of oatmeal, but one of my biggest complaints is that I don't really love the gloopy texture. Blending them up into a batter and baking them like a cake - this is something I'm VERY into. You get all of the oatmeal taste with a rich and dense cake-like texture. If you're a banana bread lover, you will absolutely love this easy recipe!

Recipe ingredients on a baking sheet.
All you need is an overripe banana and a few healthy pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

This banana bread oatmeal is full of healthy ingredients. It's perfect for breakfast or a healthy snack or dessert!

  • Rolled Old-fashioned oats - Only use whole rolled oats. Steel cut oats and quick oats will not work for this recipe. I love these gluten free oats.
  • Banana - If you have any sad, overripe bananas on your counter, this is a great recipe to use them up! Brown bananas add a good amount of natural sweetness so you don't need too much extra sugar.
  • Eggs - Eggs help bring the batter together so it bakes up like a cake. For a vegan version, you can definitely substitute a flax egg.
  • Milk - My favorite to use in this recipe is unsweetened vanilla almond milk. You don't have to use non-dairy milk can use whatever kind you have on hand.
  • Honey - a bit of honey, pure maple syrup or brown sugar for added sweetness.
  • Baking powder - a little leavener helps it bake up just like cake.
  • Cinnamon - just a touch for that warm, fresh baked taste.
  • Vanilla extract - adds more flavor.
  • Salt - for balance
  • Chocolate chips - not required but strongly suggested. Feel free to experiment with other mix-ins like walnuts or chia seeds.

Bake in ramekins for perfectly portioned individual servings.

Method

Blended baked oats could not be easier to make. No need to separate dry ingredients and wet ingredients into different bowls. Just add everything, except the chocolate chips or other mix-ins, to a blender and blend until the oats are pulverized into a smooth batter.

Process shots to make banana bread baked oats - ingredients in a blender, ingredients blended and batter in ramekins with chocolate chips.
Just blend and bake. So easy!

Evenly divide the batter and chocolate chips between four greased ramekins, bake until puffed and light golden brown and that's it! Let baked oats cool for at least 5 minutes before digging in. Serve warm or at room temperature. I love making these in individual portions for healthy a meal prep breakfast or snack for the week.

Oatmeal with a cake-like texture makes the perfect healthy breakfast, snack or dessert!

Recipe Tips

  • If you don't have ramekins, you can certainly make this in a small baking dish and cut into individual servings. Ramekins are great for making individual servings of all kinds of things. Worth it to get some!
  • Use a high speed blender and thoroughly blend the mixture and let the batter stand for a few minutes to fully hydrate the oats for best texture. If you don't have a blender, you can use oat flour as a substitute!
  • Leftovers should be tightly wrapped or stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. To enjoy, warm in the microwave.
  • Serve baked oats on their own or try it topped with more sliced bananas, berries, chopped nuts, a dollop of greek yogurt or drizzle a little maple syrup on top.

Would baking this in all in a 8x8 turn out similarly? If I adjusted time?

How do I heat when I need them as it would only be me eating them?

I keep mine wrapped in the fridge and then you can just pop them in the microwave! Start with 30 seconds and add more time as needed depending on your microwave.

This came out looking pale at 25mins, I put it back in the oven and it went flat. Figured this would be fine so gave it another 10 mins but it remained uncooked in the middle even after 35mins in the oven. I also found it lacked much flavour.

I need to complain… this recipe is so good, I have become addicted. It’s been a staple in my weekly meal prepping as a go to for an evening meal. Added a dallop of peanut butter, some protein powder and more milk. Soooo good!

My naturopathic doctor recommends I eat oats for breakfast but I sometimes get bored with them, so I was thrilled to run across this recipe. They were easy and oh so scrumptious!

I made this banana bread baked oats recipe as instructed and loved the fact that I had breakfast for four days this week. These oats really do taste just like banana chocolate chip bread which is even more exciting.
